I'm not satisfied?!

Whilst here in Egypt, I attempted creating dress that isn't my usual taste. I can't say I'm happy with it, therefore I'm not putting it in my design album.
There's something about it that just makes me hate it, maybe my choice of fabric hasn't helped the fit, and I could say I'd be happier with a different choice of colours, but we learn from our mistakes!
It would be a waste not to show you guys and get your opinions though so here I am showing you in a bloggy post!

Any way I'll leave the pics to do the talking and let me know what you guys think! I feel strange coming up with something like this and feel I need to go back to my crazy funky looks instead!

Til next time..

Keep It Covered !

  5. I actually love the design, loving the contrast, but i think the under colour would look nicer as a warmer nude colour if that makes sense? from the picture it looks like an off white? Thats just my opinion anyway. I would defoz wear it and think you should put it in your collection because its really hard to find nice evening gowns for hijabies with long sleeves x

  6. I think perhaps its the print of the fabric, maybe the thickness and feel of it? The cut is different and interesting, stick with it trying different fabrics, experiment with the weight and feel of it. You may be on to something here.

  7. I LOVE it-especially in the final picture it looks very elegant. I agree about the under colour material, maybe a different colour would work better? xx

  8. Are you serious DINA??????? this is so classy, simply and hot! I love it. It is the type of dress that with the right accessories is like bam!!! i wouldnt do that type of fabric scarf you have on because it is too casual for the dress. I would do a black chiffon with a flower on the ear...to give it that spanish style cause that is the vibe i get from the dress...but that is just my taste:-)

  9. I like it Dina, Although I wouldn't wear red personally.
It reminds me of Kate middleton's wedding dress with the lace, have you thought of doing bridal wear?

  12. Dina, I love it! Its super gorgeous and elegant, perfect for a wedding or fancy-shmnacy event. The cut is perfect, still modest, and I'm loving the sorta scrunched neckline. BTW, did you use a pattern to make this? I've been looking for patterns with a very similar design, but can't find any at all :/

  22. The thing about you Dina, is that your tailoring is impeccable. Your designs are professionally executed and everyone knows superlative tailoring is a mark of high quality clothing. This design may not have worked if it were sewn by someone less skilled. There are A LOT of up and coming hijabi designers out there, but your technical skills set you apart from the herd. You are actually able to sew (well) what you conceptualize.

  25. Salam Dina, I live in Los Angeles- and I have an event coming up next month. Is there any way you can design a dress like this one for me and send it over in time? I can give you my measurements, and info, etc. I've been really stressing out about what to wear. I'm helping put this event together for work and expecting almost 2,000 people, so I gotta rock something cute and unique!
I usually get most of my dresses from H&M and Zara- BUT SO DOES EVERYONE ELSE HERE! So I seriously need something cute in time. Let me know :)
Would you mind emailing me so I can give you more info?

    Salam,
