Turly an inspiring post! I've always adored british eclectic style, and now you shared the hijabi ways.. You guys are so beautiful and have amazing styles. Thank you so much to brought them up here!
The one with dotted tulle skirt is TOP!!! OMG! she paired her outfit with nike sneakers!! I'm dying~ who's she? does she blog?
Basma K, and Zinah are also my other favourites.. their styles are soooo gorgeous.
Alhamdulillah, everyone looks beautiful. However, are we really representing ourselves as Muslim women by falling into notions perpetuated by western culture that supposedly represent beauty? The fact that Muslim women think it's okay to wear skinny jeans, ridiculously voluminous "hijabs", and a gaggle of makeup really shows a lack of knowledge.
The spirit of hijab doesn't only pertain to covering your head with a scarf, but being modest in all aspects especially appearance. If we're drawing attention to ourselves in this way, and adopting the idea that fashion takes precedence (which in this case, it definitely does), how are you really submitting yourself to the commands of Allah? I'm not saying we shouldn't be mindful of our appearance nor take care to present ourselves in a put-together way, but should we really be trying to look like a "Muslim version" of celebrities, models, fashionistas, etc.? Just something to think about.
“There are two types of the people of Hell whom I have not seen: men in whose hands are whips like the tails of cattle, with which they beat the people, and women who are clothed yet naked, maa’ilaat mumeelaat, with their heads like the humps of camels, tilted to one side. They will not enter Paradise nor even smell its fragrance.” -Sahih Muslim
Wish I could have been there
